The Word of God is life, even to men who have committed murder, forgiveness applies to them as much as to you and me. The love and grace of God is strong. A story came to us from one of our leaders in Kenya:

“Two men were on their way Kipkelion Rift Valley to revenge the killing of their parents during the post-election violence in Kenya.

These brothers attacked one of their targets and then fled into hiding, right behind our TTI Center. One of our students, George, went out and shared the Gospel with them. After hearing the message of Jesus’ love and sacrifice for them, they gave their lives to Christ. More than that, they were bold enough to confess what they had done in avenging their parent’s deaths. These men were baptized three weeks later and since conversion have led dozens to Christ.”

This beautiful story of God’s love and grace reminds me of David’s Psalm regarding the time Nathan the prophet came to him after David had committed adultery and murder:

“Restore to me the joy of your salvation,

and make me willing to obey you.

Then I will teach your ways to rebels,

and they will return to you.

Forgive me for shedding blood, O God who saves;

then I will joyfully sing of your forgiveness.”

God extends his grace to each one of us. His grace is immediate. We don’t have to punish ourselves or pay penance, Jesus already did.
